The Official Rules decide who can enter and who can win. Checkout does not. Placing an order does not make you eligible if the Official Rules say otherwise, so read them before you buy and treat them as the authority over anything written on this page.
Who the Official Rules allow
Every giveaway has its own Official Rules, and they set eligibility. The current Rules are open to legal residents of Canada, in all provinces and territories including Quebec, who have reached the age of majority where they live. Employees, officers, directors and contractors of SHFTD and of the companies involved in running the giveaway are not eligible, and neither are their immediate family or household members. A giveaway can also add conditions tied to the prize itself. Check the Rules for the giveaway you are entering.
Checkout does not check eligibility
Entries are recorded automatically once payment clears. That step does not check eligibility, so an order going through is not proof that you qualify. Entries are never removed once they are awarded either, so seeing entries on your account is not a ruling on eligibility. The Official Rules are the only place eligibility is defined.
You do not have to buy anything to enter
There is a free entry route, and no purchase is necessary. The Official Rules set out the exact method, the format your entry has to take, and the deadline. Follow that wording exactly, because that is the version that counts. We will not paraphrase it here, in case the paraphrase drifts from the rules.
What a drawn entrant has to do
The draw picks one position in the entry pool. Whoever holds it becomes the potential winner, not the winner. Under Canadian law that person has to correctly answer a time-limited skill-testing question, and has to sign and return a declaration of compliance and release within the deadline set out in the Official Rules. If they cannot be reached, miss a deadline, or do not meet the Rules, they can be disqualified and an alternate entrant can be drawn instead. The Rules carry the full list and the exact deadlines. If you are not sure you could meet them, read the Rules before you order rather than after. You can also email support@shftdco.com and ask first. We reply within 24 hours.
How the draw works
The draw is committed in advance and settled by a public source of randomness, so neither entrants nor SHFTD can steer the result. It runs live and in public. Every entry has its own number in a permanent record, and the result is published after the draw so it can be checked.
Being entered is not the same as winning. Your odds are your entries divided by every entry in the pool, and the pool keeps growing while a giveaway is open, so your odds move until entries close. A large share of the pool is still only a share. Someone holding fewer entries can be the one drawn.
Where to check what you hold
Sign in at account.shftdco.com and open My Entries from the account side navigation. It shows the active giveaway with a live countdown, the entries you hold, your odds, and a list you can open to see your individual entry numbers, plus a section for closed giveaways awaiting a draw and a section for past giveaways. Entries appear once payment clears, not when the order ships, and odds appear once you hold entries. Sign in with the same email you used on the order. If you order with one email and sign in with another, you will not see those entries, so email support@shftdco.com and we can look into it. The account area is read-only, so you can view entries but not change them.
