Tracking becomes available once your order is fulfilled. Every physical item is made to order, so there is a production window first, and there is no tracking during it. Not separating production from transit is the single biggest reason people write in to ask where their order is. This article covers physical orders.
Production first, then transit
Your total wait is two separate periods added together. Production is when your item is made. That usually takes 1 to 3 business days, and up to 5 to 7 business days during a rush of orders. Transit starts after that. It is counted from the next business day after the parcel is handed to the carrier. Weekends and statutory holidays are not business days.
Transit estimates by region
- Within Quebec and to Ontario: 1 to 4 business days.
- To Western Canada (BC, AB, SK, MB) and to Atlantic Canada: 2 to 8 business days.
- Northern, remote and territory addresses: 6 to 14 business days.
Those are Canada Post published Expedited Parcel standards, not guarantees. Weather, volume and other factors affect them. Orders ship from Levis, Quebec, primarily with Canada Post, though another carrier may be used when that makes more sense for the destination. Canada Post publishes current service disruptions and peak season adjustments on canadapost.ca.
Where to find your tracking
On Canada Post Expedited Parcel, tracking and delivery confirmation are included as standard. If you have a tracking number, it will have gone to the email address you used at checkout, so check that inbox first, including the spam and promotions folders. If you cannot find it, email support@shftdco.com with your order number. Signature on delivery is a paid add on and is not included as standard.
Why tracking can look stalled
- There is no tracking during production, because there is no parcel yet.
- A tracking number can exist before any scans appear. Scans begin once the carrier has the parcel.
- Weekends and statutory holidays do not count towards the transit estimate.
- Weather, volume and other factors affect Canada Post estimates. Check canadapost.ca for service alerts before assuming something has gone wrong.
If something looks wrong
If the estimate for your region has passed, or the tracking shows something that does not look right, email support@shftdco.com with your order number. You will get a reply within 24 hours.
Shipping does not change your entries
Entries are recorded when your order is paid, not when it is made and not when it ships. Once entries are awarded they are never removed. A slow production run or a slow delivery does not change the number of entries on your order.
